Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what the JMS Print & Mail website collects, why we collect it, who sees it and what choices you have.

Please note: This policy describes how this website handles information. It is a plain-language summary and not legal advice. Last updated: .

At a glance

The short version

  • We collect what you choose to send us: the details in our quote and contact forms, any files you attach, and what you tell us by email or phone.
  • We use it to reply to you, prepare quotes and produce your work.
  • Our forms run on Netlify Forms, so Netlify processes what you submit, including any files you upload.
  • Google Analytics 4 stays off until you click Turn on analytics on the banner. If you click No thanks, it stays off.
  • Every page asks Google Fonts for font files when it loads, whatever you choose about analytics.
  • We do not run ads on this site and we do not sell your information.
  • Mailing lists and files you give us are used only to produce the job you asked for.
  • You can ask what we hold about you by emailing info@JMSPrintandMail.com.

What we collect

What we collect and why

This table lists what this website, and our day-to-day contact with you, can involve.

Information this website handles, how it reaches us and why we use it
InformationWhat it includes and how it reaches usWhy we use it
Contact and project detailsYour name, email, phone, company, what you need, quantity, the date you need it by and your message, typed into our quote or contact form. Netlify Forms processes the submission and makes it available to us.To reply, prepare a quote and run your project.
FilesArtwork, documents and mailing lists that you upload through a form (Netlify Forms processes and stores them for us) or email to us.To produce the job you asked for.
Phone and email conversationsWhat you tell us when you call or write to us.To answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
Technical dataYour IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time. Our website host, Netlify, records it automatically when a page loads. To run the site, keep it working and fix problems.
Font requestsYour IP address and standard browser information, which your browser sends to Google's servers each time a page loads so Google can return the font files. To show the typefaces on this site.
Analytics dataPages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, and which form was sent (the form's name, not what you typed). Google Analytics 4 records it, only if you click Turn on analytics. To see which pages help people, so we can improve them.
Your saved settingsTwo items in your browser's local storage: jms-consent, your answer to the analytics banner, and jms-motion, your choice if you use the Pause animations button. They stay on your device. So the banner does not keep asking and your animation setting is remembered.

Use and sharing

How we use and share information

How we use it

We use the information listed in the What we collect and why section to reply to you, prepare quotes, produce and mail your work, keep our business records, and run and protect this website. If you turned on analytics, we use that data to see which pages are useful. We do not use your information for advertising.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only in these ways:

  • Service providers. Netlify hosts this website and runs Netlify Forms, which processes your form submissions and uploaded files and stores them in our Netlify account. The company that provides our email also handles messages you send us.
  • The U.S. Postal Service. When we deliver a mailing to USPS (opens in a new tab), names and addresses appear on the mail pieces and in the postal paperwork that goes with them.
  • Live chat. The chat bubble on this site is provided by Tawk.to. When you use it, the messages you type, your name or email if you give them, and technical details such as your IP address and browser are handled by Tawk.to and shown to us. The chat loads a few seconds after a page loads, whether or not you use it.
  • Google. Google Fonts receives a request each time a page loads. If you turn on analytics, Google Analytics also receives usage data. Our links to Google Maps and Google reviews take you to Google's own pages, described in the Links to other sites and Google services section.
  • Outside partners for a job. If a job needs an outside partner for one step, we give that partner the information the step needs.
  • When the law requires it. We may disclose information to respond to a legal request.

Browser side

Analytics, local storage and fonts

Analytics are off until you say yes

When you first visit, a small banner asks whether you want to turn on analytics. If you click Turn on analytics, this site loads Google Analytics 4 from Google's servers (googletagmanager.com). It records how visitors use pages: which pages they view, what kind of device and browser they use, and roughly where in the world the visit came from. When a form is sent, the site also tells Google Analytics which form it was, but not what you typed. Google may set cookies or similar identifiers on your device to do this.

If you click No thanks, analytics do not load. They also do not load if your browser has JavaScript turned off. Changing your answer stops analytics from loading on later page views. It does not remove cookies that Google Analytics set earlier, and a page that has already loaded analytics keeps it until you reload or leave that page. You can clear the cookies in your browser settings.

What our site stores on your device

We store up to two items in your browser's local storage. The first, jms-consent, holds your answer to the analytics banner. The second, jms-motion, holds your choice if you use the Pause animations button in the page footer. Both stay on your device so the site can remember you. This site's own code stores nothing else there. The cookies or identifiers that Google Analytics may set are described under “Analytics are off until you say yes” above, and they appear only if you turn analytics on.

Live chat (Tawk.to)

The chat bubble is a service from Tawk.to. Its script loads from tawk.to after the page loads and may set cookies or similar identifiers so a conversation can continue between pages. Do not include payment card or Social Security numbers in a chat.

Google Fonts

To show the typefaces on this site, your browser downloads font files from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). That request goes to Google's servers and includes your IP address and standard browser information. It happens each time a page loads, with analytics on or off.

Customer data

Mailing lists and files you send us

If you send us a mailing list, artwork or any other file, we use it only to produce the job you asked for. Our Data management & lists work, such as removing duplicates and checking addresses, is done for your job and for no other purpose.

Please make sure you have the right to use and share what you send. Our terms of use say more about that.

Please do not send sensitive personal data such as Social Security numbers or payment card numbers through our forms or by email. Our forms do not ask for them. If your list includes sensitive information, call (347) 466-5873 first and we will talk through how to send it.

Your say

Your choices

  • Analytics. Answer the banner when it appears. To change your answer later, use the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page. It clears your saved answer and shows the banner again.
  • Animations. Use the Pause animations button in the footer of any page to pause looping animations. The same button resumes them. Your choice is saved on your device.
  • Ask what we hold. Email info@JMSPrintandMail.com to ask what information we have about you, to correct it or to ask us to delete it. We will review your request and reply. We may need to keep information for a job in progress or for our business records.
  • Other rights. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you more rights. Contact us and we will talk it through.

Retention and more

Other things to know

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as it is needed for your job and for our business records. Form submissions and uploaded files stay in our Netlify Forms account until we delete them.

Children

This website is meant for businesses and organizations. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Links to other sites and Google services

Our pages show reviews that customers posted on Google, and they link to Google Maps, the Google review form, Instagram, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), NYC Small Business Services, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the union printer directory of the Printing, Packaging and Production Workers Union of North America (PPPWU). Those links open the other organization's own site or service, under its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control. When you use our Write a Google review (opens in a new tab) link, you leave this site and go to Google.

Security

We aim to handle your information securely. No website, form or email is completely without risk, which is why we ask you not to send sensitive personal data through them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or our services change. The Last updated date near the start of this page shows when it last changed.
